Tuesday 13th July 2010 EASYJET ANNOUNCES FLIGHTS AT BELFAST INTERNATIONAL LONDON – Leading airport media specialist, EYE, has learnt that easyJet is to introduce flights from Belfast International Airport, to Malta from February 2011.
Flights will be operated to and from Belfast International Airport twice a week, adding to the existing holiday hot spots such as Alicante, Faro, Ibiza, Malaga and Palma.
Earlier this year, Belfast International completed the first two phases of a £10million refurbishment project designed to create a modern, spacious, passenger-focused facility. The initial phase involved the relocation of central security search to the departures concourse, a move designed to speed up passengers' journeys through the airport, whilst the second phase saw the opening of the ‘Core’ building.
Uel Hoey, Business Development Director at Belfast International Airport, said: "It's great to see flights to Malta direct from Belfast International Airport as Malta has always been a popular destination with local travellers. We are delighted that easyJet has decided to introduce this new service, making the island easily accessible and a good-value option for holidaymakers."
John Rankin, General Manager, Eye Fly UK said: “Belfast International Airport has undergone huge changes to accommodate the demand from passengers so this is fantastic news. This will certainly drive more traffic to the airport, raising its profile as well as allowing Eye Flyers to experience the new facilities.”
Eye Fly UK is a new leader in the airport media sector and represents 84 million passengers per year. Eye Fly UK now partners with London Gatwick Airport, London Stansted Airport, Manchester Airport, Belfast International Airport, East Midlands Airport, Bournemouth Airport, Cardiff Airport and Humberside Airport
