Monday 21st June 2010 EYE WELCOMES MIKE BAKER TO THE OAA LONDON – Leading airport media specialist, EYE, welcomes Mike Baker to his new role at the Outdoor Advertising Association (OAA).
Mike, who joined the OAA on 24th May, will focus on making the OAA a more marketing-led trade body. Mike will report into OAA Chairman, Jeremy Male.
Mike’s experience in the industry began in commercial TV for Thames TV, where he was responsible for the station’s overall marketing. He then entered the world of print media, working first at The Sunday Correspondent and then at IPC, where he was the Advertising Marketing Director across 80 titles.
He went on to work at CBS Outdoor International for 10 years, most recently as International Development Director. After leaving in January 2009, he studied negotiation at Harvard Business School and consulted for international outdoor companies. He was recently Managing Director of Media by Permission, a CRM system for the media industry.
John Rankin, General Manager, Eye Fly UK said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike into his new role at the OAA. This is an exciting time for EYE as we take to market our vision for a national airport media story. We hope we can work together with the OAA to promote the benefits of the airport media sector and Out-of-Home.”
In a statement about his appointment, Baker added: “Out-of-Home is the strongest visual medium and continues to thrive, attracting a strong brand count across practically all categories. Like TV, the sector had a strong start to the year with double-digit growth, and was once again the media winner of a national election. With a number of landmark events coming up, such as the launch of POSTAR later this year and the 2012 Olympics, it’s a very exciting time to be joining.”
